Radical Patience
The Eternal Perspective
This devotional series launched back in January with the intention of focusing on the radical fruit of God's Spirit that embodies a follower of Jesus, as seen in Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control..."
As highlighted in the text, we spent the first few months diving into the fruit of love, joy, and peace. But not a love, joy, or peace as defined by the world; a love, joy and peace defined through the holy nature of God. God's love is pure and sacrificial. God's joy is anchored in eternal matters, not temporary circumstances. And God's peace deals with a reconciled relationship with Himself despite the presence of trials. The world cannot know such heavenly depths of His fruit without the embodiment of His indwelling Spirit.
So what exactly flows from a person who abides in the love of God, basks in the joy of God, and dwells in peace with God?
Radical
patience.
How exactly is patience embodied in the Spirit of God throughout Scripture? And how does this patience differ from that of the patience found in the world? And how do we experience God-level patience while in an expedient culture? These are just a few of the questions that we will be walking through during the month of May.
